Amede Doualle

Amede Doualle was born in 1928 in Pas de Calais France from an artist painter father and a musician mother. At the age of seven, his mother placed him at the Fine Art school in Caen France where he studied painting and music for seven years. But it is war in France and at the age of 14, Amede decided to quit school to joint the French Underground army where he would stay four years.

His dream was to be able to paint and perform as a musician. He formed his own group and starts his adventure. He then, can practice his art at the maximum, during the day he paints and at night he plays music and sings. He traveled all over Europe and Africa where he exhibited his paintings.

In 1955, he signed a contract to play music and sing in Mexico City, he continues to paint and opened his own Art gallery. He stayed in Mexico for eleven years. In 1966, He immigrated to the United States and became an American citizen. He moved to Chicago where he open his own gallery and has since exhibited in the United States and Europe. In 1991, he retired and moved to Florida. In 1996, Amede remarried and his wife Marie put him back to work.

Doualle is an extremely versatile artist who, having previously fall in love with the beauty of Western North Carolina's mountains, recently retired to this area to paint them. Doualle's urban scenes and figurative work are so different in style that the viewer will think more than one artist is at work.
