Denise Sherman grew up playing with her mother's watercolors and acrylics. When she picked up the paintbrush three years ago, she started playing again.
Painting for Denise is fun.
She plays with color and design in her works and hopes they exude the same joy she feels when she creates them. Often, Denise paints scenes from her home and interprets them with colors and patterns of her imagination.
She is also a wife, mother and journalist. She has published short stories and a children's picture book
"Art is about expression. While often my short stories look at the darker side of the human experience, my paintings are simply products of passion and play. Painting for me is not merely an escape from the hard realities of life, but "puts me in touch with my own experience of exhuberance, enthusiasm and laughter.
When I paint I'm free."
Denise participates and shows work through the Visual Art Exchange. She has shown work at Artsource Art Gallery, The Little Art Gallery, The Purple Armchair, Eclectic Garden in Raleigh, NC, and she has shown at La-D-Da in Wilson, NC.
Denise and her son John are seen in the photo.
