Stephen
Moore (Smoore) is a Raleigh artist known for the color and light
quality in his paintings. He was taught by Eleanor Seng and
has been painting about twenty years. He has traveled and painted
extensively in Europe, and is described as a neo fauve expressionist.
Painting interests also include coastal and other North Carolina
scenes with an emphasis on local color. Though primarily a landscape
painter schooled in plein air techniques, he is also interested
in portrait, figurative, and still-life genres. His work is
held in private collections around the world and many corporate
collections in North Carolina. Current gallery associations
include Art Source in Raleigh, Carteret Contemporary Art Gallery
in Morehead City, NC; City Art Gallery in Greenville, NC; Nofo
Gallery in Wilmington, NC; and Tyler-White Art Gallery in Greensboro,
NC.
